I hurriedly left the house for school this morning cos I was kinda late & had some things to cover up before clinic sessions today. I had to do my quiet time in school, studying Proverbs 12 (cos it’s my habit to study Proverbs based on calendar dates), after which I taught Pharmacology to my adorable friend…
In my rush I forgot to carry my pen then I asked her to please give me a pen. Luckily for me she had up to 5 & different colors to go with from which she gave me two to chose from.
One was a blue Schneider pen, complete with a pen cover lid. And the other was a black pen (I think it’s Leo Smart) but without any pen cover lid. From sight alone my heart already chose the blue Schneider pen simply because it looked good & ‘complete’, and as I tried it and saw it was working, I didn’t even bother trying the other one.
Even when she warned me and said “the Schneider pen is a fake one o”, I didn’t mind as long as I liked it and it worked when I initially tried it out.
Off I went rushing to Ophthalmology clinic with my Senior Registrar already waiting to take us on tutorials (on normal days I don’t usually go late o)
As she started the tutorials, I brought out my fine pen to write only to realize it was fading as I kept writing.
I tried to shake it from end to tip as we used to do back then in Secondary school but all to no avail.
Then I asked myself, “what if this pen was to be someone I’ll spend the rest of my life with? Would I have been carried away by the so called ‘complete looking’ and the fact that it worked when I tried it out initially even after being warned by the Owner of the pen that it was fake? ”
