Sharing a bit of me with the world

Who sells furniture in traffic?

So I’m in traffic towards Location junction and while waiting for it to move, I observe the hawkers peddling their wares.

Those selling Gala and cold drinks and others selling other items like phone chargers, music CDs and other stuff are a common sight, but then I see her, a young lady holding three throw pillows that were obviously for sale.

Na wa o! Nothing wey person no go see! So she really thinks someone would choose to buy furniture in traffic? These people sef!

I just shake my head in amazement as the traffic lets up a bit and I move a few metres forward in my jalopy, craning my neck to see the beyond the car’s bonnet.

I also adjust a little as my behind hurts from sitting for so long and I’m reminded that I and the metal springs of my worn carseat are now in a closer relationship than when she first became mine.

This has made the seat sink a bit, worsening my already (dis)advantaged view as a short person.

Ehen, that’s true o! Shebi I’ve been thinking of padding my seat for my butt’s and my neck’s sakes.

Kai! But anyone who sees me sitting on a pillow while driving will laugh at me.
Whatever jare, I may have to patronize this lady.

I look through my rearview mirror but there’s already a wide distance between her and myself and the traffic resumes movement, further widening the gulf between me and my relief.

She knew what she was selling after all, I thought to myself as I smiled.

Lesson learned: Don’t be discouraged even when people don’t understand you and mock what you offer, they’ll come around when they realize they need you.

I am now a proud owner of a car pillow after making fun of someone who was selling throw pillows in traffic. He he he! 😂 I have finally become her customer!
Want to laugh at me? Go ahead! The pillow is bae jo! No more craning my neck to see beyond my car bonnet.

At least my children won’t get to ask ‘Mommy, what happened to you that made your neck so long? Did your own Mommy drag it? Or were you trying to giraffe in class?’
