Medical Profession & Your Christian Faith

He knew he had diabetes mellitus (blood sugar disease) yet he chooses to practice faith & now he has developed a diabetic foot ulcer with clear indications of possible limb amputation.

He is a pastor of a certain church & of course he had to be a good example to his members… He had to show that he was a man of God, I presume, and as a sign of being one, neglecting clinic visits & side-lining drug therapy was a fine way of showing he was a man of faith.

Would you blame him? Poor man. He found himself in a Christian society & environment that tags a person to be weak in faith should that person ever mention the use of drugs when sick or ever talk about visiting the clinic or hospital. As if the clinic or hospital has become an enterprise for the devil & his demons. Na wa o my broda, e tire me.

In the love God had for mankind, He decided to show us mercy & inspired ordinary men with breath-taking knowledge & understanding that has led to great discoveries in the field of Medicine & Surgery with the singular aim of ensuring that man get delivered from the bondage of sickness to get sound health.

The medical profession is not against your practice of faith. It’s more like an adjunct to your practice of faith (Luke 4:18-19, Acts 10:38).

God knows perfectly well that we all don’t have equal measures of faith, & on this matter of faith Scriptures have clearly stated that each of us must be sincere about the measure of faith we have & not walk in assumption of having a pseudohyperfaith (Rom.12:3 TLB) … And should your faith be small it can be built up by studying His word & listening more to faith stirring testimonies (Rom.10:17)

Do not walk in self-denial or self-deceit because other spirikoko Christians around will look down on you should you consider taking drugs or visiting the hospital. If a complication should arise these people may not be there to share in your pains & troubles. All they may do is to sympathize with you & say they’ll pray for you, which in reality they only do when they’re with you.

THE MEDICAL PROFESSION IS NOT AGAINST YOUR PRACTICE OF FAITH.
